Thank you for your help in ending the 2010 beer tax!
Our coalition's success was in large part due to people like you. If you aren't aware of what happened, the tax was a last minute, unfair and damaging increase to the beer tax to the tune of $15.50 per barrel for most beer (a 200% increase over the normal rate).
When this tax was passed in 2010 it was sold as a "temporary" tax. But during the 2013 Legislative Session, many politicians suggested extending the tax and expanding it to all breweries. Common sense individuals and organizations formed a coalition to make sure that our elected officials kept their word and let the beer tax expire as promised.
As a result of thousands of people getting involved and making their voices known in Olympia, the beer tax was allowed to expire on July 1st, 2013. Although the beer tax was not extended or expanded, we are still keeping an eye on the Legislature and Governor's office to make sure that no more last minute tax increases appear.
